What can I expect in the counselling?
Our family focused approach offers a supportive environment to identify your needs and explore some of the challenges you may be facing while working together to overcome them.
Counselling can help establish healthy boundaries, develop coping strategies and learn effective communication techniques allowing families to reconnect, support and work together.
What does brief family counselling mean?
The focus of brief family counselling is to provide an opportunity to explore your situation, and redevelop and move forward in your relationships, drawing upon the skills and strengths you already possess in one to two sessions.
Each situation is unique, and there is the option to consider further sessions if needed.
How long are the sessions?
Sessions can be up to 60 to 90 minutes long.
Is it free?
Yes, this is a free service.
Where do the sessions run?
The sessions are available to individuals, families and friends impacted by someone’s drinking or drug use in Australia, they are conducted via telephone.
What about privacy and confidentiality?
This program is a partnership between the Self Help Addiction Resource Centre (SHARC) and Counselling Online, a Turning Point service.
